Sending your resume to recruitment agencies in Israel
Updated 1 November 2026
Sending your resume to recruitment agencies (placement agencies) gives you access to jobs the employer doesn't post itself. An agency recruits for employers: it posts the job, screens candidates and passes the suitable ones to the employer. Usually the employer pays the agency, and the service is free for the candidate. It's worth working with several agencies at once, but take care not to be put forward for the same job twice.
How it works
- You apply to a job the agency posted, or send it a general resume for your field.
- Screening call. A recruiter calls, asks about your experience, salary expectations and availability, and sometimes suggests other jobs.
- Put forward to the employer. If you fit, the agency passes your resume to its client. A good agency asks you first and tells you which company it is.
- Interviews. The agency arranges interviews, and sometimes prepares you and passes on feedback.
Why it's worth it
- Jobs that aren't posted. Some employers hire only through agencies, and the employer's name doesn't appear in the ad.
- Feedback. A recruiter can tell you why you weren't picked, which a direct employer usually doesn't.
- More jobs. One application can lead to offers of other jobs that fit you.
What to check and watch for
- You don't pay to be put forward. A regular agency is paid by the employer. If you're asked for money to "pass on" your resume, check carefully before going on.
- Double submission. If two agencies put you forward to the same employer, or you apply directly to a job an agency already put you forward for, it can complicate your application. When you're offered a job, ask which company it is, and say if you already applied there.
- Consent. Ask to be told before every time you're put forward to an employer.
- A list. Keep a list of every job, through whom you applied, and when.
What to send
- An up-to-date resume as a PDF with a clear file name.
- A short letter saying which job you're applying for and why you fit. How to write it: How to write a cover letter.
- What you're looking for: role, region, full or part time. It helps the recruiter offer you the right jobs.
